100 Wines, 100 Regions, 100 Stories.
Taste through the World Of Wine with us.

The World of Wine Series
surveys 100 wines from 100 of the world’s most famous wine appellations. Yes, “ambitious” describes this project . It’s a series of 15 wine classes designed for the casually curious wine drinker and the person with an insatiable appetite for knowledge. Whoever you are, The World of Wine will help you navigate wine lists and shops, teach you the principles of food and wine pairing, and most importantly, provide you with a novel way to engage this big blue planet of ours.

If you’ve been to any of our tastings, you are aware that 6oz Pour goes beyond the glass. Yes, we spend time discerning the flavors, aromas, and textures of wine but the core of our classes weave each bottle into it’s unique fabric of history, culture, geography, and more. The breadth of content in this series is vast! We cover anything from 12th century French monks to the American Gold Rush and from dinosaurs to dictators. Each wine presents a story and those stories are sometimes hilarious and sometimes deadly serious, and of course, always interesting.

How does The World Of Wine Series work?

The tickets for all the WOW series are purchased à la carte. These classes anchor our class schedule and most of them will repeat throughout the year. This means you can do as many as you want at the pace you want. There are no prerequisites but our two distinct intro-to-wine classes “Vineyards, Varietals, And Vintages” and “You Can’t Make Great Wines If You Don’t Have Great Grapes” are designed to provide all the basics and more to people looking to lockdown a solid foundation or do a little refresh.

What are the Classes? (To read more about these classes, visit our TOCK site)

But…Why these regions?

What about Bulgaria, Croatia, and Lebanon? I can see the questions coming! Let me grab my helmet as I attempt an answer. Here goes - because these are the nations/regions that I want to cover. In my opinion they make up 99% of the floor space of any balanced wine shop. I leaned toward doing a special class focusing just on Napa and Sonoma rather than lumping all the “other” countries clumsily together in a class inevitably called something like “Wines You Can’t Pronounce or Find, In 7 Glasses.” Don’t get me wrong, the name I’ll give my next dog will either be Bekka or Thracian.

Pricing?

All the classes run between $50-70 and after attending 5 different WOW classes in one calendar year, you get one class free. We use TOCK for all of our ticketing needs so it’s easy for us to monitor who’s been to what. Any class listed on TOCK with WOW in the title is part of this series. That said, always use the same email for purchasing tickets, more on that below.

Package Pricing

We offer package pricing for many of our nation-themed tastings such as “Spain/Italy/France In 7 Glasses” along with their respective “B-sides”.  These packages are priced at 20% off their otherwise à la carte pricing. Notice that the two-class packages aren’t listed as WOW classes? Yup, if you get a package, those classes won’t count toward the take-5-classes-get-1-free deal. No double discount dipping!

What about one price for the whole kit-and-caboodle?

Not really, contact us if you’re interested. We could work something out, but to be honest, this is our first time going through this series and we will more than likely be adding additional discounts and bonuses as we go, so to keep things simple, we see the take-5-classes-get-1-free strategy as a way to stay flexible at the moment.

What if you already took WOW classes but the classes weren’t labelled as such?

We’ll happily honor that. The previous classes included in the series are any of our “In 7 Glasses” classes, “Vineyards, Varietals, and Vintages” and “You Can’t Make Great Wine Without Great Grapes.” Also, if you took any of these classes at The Tasting Room in Spring of 2022, we were using a different reservation account then so, just remind us and we’ll get it all sorted for you.

Important

Lastly and uber-importantly, to take advantage of the take-5-classes-get-1-free promotion, always use the same email for making reservations. It’s our way of tracking your attendance history. Here is a scenario that we foresee playing out, so to try to clarify this ahead of time, here we go: If you always come with another person, we’ll honor your plus-one as a separate entity in the take-5-classes-get-1-free pricing, even if it isn’t the same person every time. That means we’ll give you 2 free tickets to a sixth class and you can use that additional ticket for any plus-one you choose. Make sense? Our customer service policy is to try to be as cool as possible about any misunderstanding but, keep in mind, that if you are The Plus One to someone else’s purchase, we wouldn’t be able prove your previous attendance at any of our classes… unless we give you a test… which would probably be mostly essay, where correct spelling and dates are expected, and the exam would of course be accompanied by a blind-tasting portion.

We’re really looking forward to this adventure, please don’t hesitate to reach out with questions!

This will be a blast,

D.

P.S. In a shout out of recognition to the quintessential industry professional, inspiration, and leader Nikki Erpelding, the title “in 7 Glasses” was her creation. I asked her for permission to use it and was very open to her that I would use the **** out of it and she only asked that I give her a nod for creating it, so with this addendum, I’m looking to make good on that agreement.
